THE BLACK ELECTRONIC MUSIC ASSOCIATION
OUR MISSION
Black Electronic Music Association (BEMA), was founded by four Black women who reflect and define the space that we want to elevate.
Hannah Shogbola - Agent, Manager, owner of DAJU
Helena Star - DJ, Presenter & Broadcaster on Foundation FM
Jaguar - DJ, Broadcaster on BBC R1 Introducing Dance
Niks - DJ, Co-Founder of Black Artist Database & Rinse FM Host
BEMA’s aim is to highlight and acknowledge the fact that so many electronic genres, that we know and love today, started within the Black community. The elevation of these artists is fundamental to the growth of our scene and it is time to celebrate that.
Our goal is to honor Black electronic talent with the help of a specialist committee made up of carefully selected individuals who we know share the same vision. Including; artists, managers, agents, promoters and those who are integral to our industry.
We hope that with the formation of the BEMA that the innovators, progressors and all involved get the recognition they deserve. Our mission is to continue to spotlight our scene by fronting Black culture at the epicentre of electronic music.
